Playa del Carmen provides one of the best starting points to a rich diving holiday. The region around Playa del Carmen offers 3 very different diving locations, which each possessing its own particular magic.

It is generally of no importance whether you are a beginner or experienced diver. Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and the cenotes offer dive sites with very different requirements.

For Non-Divers...

...Playa del Carmen is conditionally suitable for Non-Divers/ Snorkelers. The boats are usually small and at the surface is usually not much to see.

...Cozumel and the cenotes are more appropriate for Non-Divers/Snorkelers. In Cozumel you can join the divers on the boat and watch them diving while you are snorkeling at the surface. Great formations, turtles, sting rays, nurse sharks and much more to admire. The cenotes are very different, fascinating impressions await you.

Diving in Playa del Carmen offers the choice between totally different reefs. There are shallow reefs full of colorful fish and almost without current. Drift dives on top of long and wide reefs with turtles, stingrays, murray eels, nurse sharks and many more. Deep dives along reefs with strong current offering a home to schools of fish and many other aquatic life. No matter if you are a novice, an expert diver, underwater photographer or a fun diver...Playa del Carmen offers dive sites for everybody.

Diving in Cozumel is still one of the best diving experiences. The amazing reefs in frnt of Cozumel were discovered by the french diving legend Jacques Cousteau. They are part of the Meso-American barrier reef which is the second longest barrier reef in the world. This corral rich Walls and reefs are home for turtles, nurse sharks, eagle rays, sting rays and many more. Don't forget to schedule Cozumel in your dive schedule.

Cenotes are only the openings into the endless and fascinating underwater caves of the Yucatan peninsula. The Mayas thought that the Cenotes are the gates to the underworld full of daemons. We are going to dive in the cavern area around these openings and stay strictly within the daylight zone. Here you will find a completely new and unforgettable diving experience. Crystal clear water, almost no current, laser like light shows, bizarre formations, dreamlike decorated rooms full of stalactites and stalagmites and many other impressions.

November til February - Diving with bull sharks

Between November and February many female bull sharks come to the coast of the Riviera Maya right in front of Playa del Carmen. They come for many years to hive birth and there is a high chance to see these fantastic animals during your diving in Playa del Carmen. Diving with bull sharks is a special and thrilling adventure in diving.

Wreck diving is always something special. The history and the stories behind these witnesses of time fascinates thousands of divers around the world. Wreck diving with eagle rays is even more thrilling and interesting. During the winter months the eagle rays pass by the Riviera Maya and they offer a very special show at the wreck C-56 Juan Escutia close to Puerto Morelos. These elegant animals gliding through the current around the wreck.
