Excursions make your holiday a special and unforgettable holiday.
Our very special trips to do with water and diving.
In addition to the annual top event when the whale sharks come to Mexico, you will also find our Liveaboard offer here. There is sure to be something for everyone here.
The whale shark moves slowly, using its entire body to move. To feed, it filters large amounts of water in search of macroalgae, krill, plankton and small fish. He can simply open his huge mouth while swimming and let the water flow through. Or suck in large amounts of water by actively opening and closing the mouth. The approximately 3000 small teeth of the whale shark do not play a role when eating, but the food collects in the filter pads.
The whale shark is harmless to humans. He is not a hunter, but belongs to the filter animals. It is the only living specimen of the shark genus Rhincodon. Its origins go back 60 million years. The whale shark is the largest living fish and the largest non-mammal vertebrate in the world.
Mid-May to mid-September
Every year in the summer months up to hundreds of whale sharks congregate in the area between Isla Holbox, Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres. They come to eat. They filter plankton and floating particles out of the water with their huge mouths. This is a fantastic chance to snorkel up close with these giants of the sea. An absolutely unforgettable experience.
